I will be performing my second 'Virtual House Concert', entitled "of love & everything", on Sunday, February 28 at 3pm EST, on my NEW PIANO!! (& with a newly updated & reliable internet connection)

I am super excited to announce that the well-known actor, Yanna McIntosh will be joining me for this event to read poems of Mari Evans (1923-2017).. Be sure to read Yanna’s bio at the bottom of this post.

The hour-long program consists of solo piano music written by seven black composers, both historical & current, interwoven with some of Evans' brilliant poetry. I am so thrilled to have found each of these pieces, especially given how challenging it has been to track down some of the musical scores. As this program is designed to run in a seamless flow, without any chitchat from me, a Q&A will follow for anyone interested.

The featured composers are: (please click on the composer’s name for biographical info)

Yanna McIntosh is a Jamaican-Canadian actress. She has performed LIVE in theatres and on film sets across Canada, and, (pre-Pandemic), in the United States. She has portrayed Queens, ex-slaves and madams; Mothers, pre-pubescents, and rebels; singing fairies, beloved Wizards, and cross-dressing colonialists. Yanna is also a closet pianist: "When I was small, my mother, Icil, a single mother and new immigrant working as a legal secretary, invested in piano lessons for me, and, before long, an actual piano became a fixture in our living room. I am honoured to join Ms. Mogensen in shining light on these black women poets and composers.”
